Taxes

Well it's tax season again. I'm happy to say I owe the government lots of money after I've already paid in throughout the year. I'm happy to contribute to the auto industry and AIG bailout. Since I'm a little short on tax money, I wonder if the government will help keep me afloat through the slim times? If not, I'll have to work harder than I did last year to make more money to pay for my taxes, which I will be taxed even more for, so I'll owe even more next year! So it all boils down to hard work is rewarded with not only a sense of accomplishment, but also a greater tax payment. You can see why the hamster just keeps running and running until his little heart finally gives out. He's just not getting to his destination! Poor little slob. Instead of drowning my tax woes in alcohol, I think I'll have one in tribute to the hamster!

Free Show

Not a lot to share today. Tired of being sick, sick of being tired. Need a vacation! But who doesn't? Go play in the mountains! The mountains are almost therapeutic. They're just so majestic and when you don't live near them, you hardly ever take them for granted. Driving west on I 80, its a contest with my family who can see the first mountain on the horizon. Another breathtaking moment was driving up the California coast in the evening. The sun was going down over the ocean and there must have been 50 cars pulled over to catch the free show. If there was an admission charge, it still would have been worth it! To see a massive ball of fire in the sky slowly descend into the sea. The blue ocean turned gold shimmery for a while. Very cool! I could watch that every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. I'm glad others there that day took the time to stop and get off the hamster wheel to enjoy the show. Cheers!

Soap Box

Went to a wedding today. My wife's first cousin. Safe to say, a scared young couple. There were no youtube moments though. I just reflect back on my wedding day and how young and scared I was! That was 20 years ago, and now I'm considered an old fart who probably doesn't know what he's talking about. I like being married for a numbers of reasons. Don't have to find a date, someone to share those memorable moments with, common goals, oh, and sex. Drink to that! Boy, this blog stuff is kinda hard. I wonder what I'm getting myself into. I've been kicking and screaming every inch of the way while I'm drug by my hair into the computer age. Is it still called the computer age? Regardless, here I am wasting time I can't get back. I was recently discussing with friends, the art of storytelling is quickly fading, because generations close behind me are soooo connected to their electronic devices that now one actually converses anymore. We were reflecting on the death of Paul Harvey and his radio show, "The rest of the story". We all had fond memories. Here's to Paul's stories.

Virgin

This is my first post. Beertopia is my first attempt at sending you to a link. I'm considered somewhat of a troglodyte because I'm not very computer savvy. This sight's main objective is somewhat aimless. If you've ever sat on a barstool and had a conversation with the bartender, the loser next to you, or the frequent self proclaimed establishment VIP, then you know we're here to solve the world's problems over a beer and stale pretzels until we leave at 7. For instance, I just solved wattage problems in my kid's room. The tension was high and tempers were beginning to flair. Boy was that close! Take a drink.
